Out of hibernation.......

I was pondering on what to give my DM for Mother's Day and remembered that I had started this stitchery some "years" before and never finished it off for one reason or another. So last Sunday I dragged out my sewing machine from hibernation, dusted no less than an inch of dust from the cover and after plugging it into power it whirred to life (OMG it actually still works!!)
First I finished stitching the flower pot - then cut the border strips with my rotary cutter which I noticed has grown surface rust (gosh, has it really been that long??) and then it was a matter of sewing the whole thing together - straight stitch and a bit of overlocking - nothing complicated.
I have to confess that working out measurements did not come as easy as it once had and even thought my machine has an automatic button hole stitch, I couldn't remember how to use it! The thought of searching through the manual to find instructions was not an option as this was
a "day project" so I ended up securing the back pillow insert with velcro.
I hope she likes it....... tomorrow will tell!

The cushion is cute. Hope she likes it. Did the sewing machine really have an inch of dust on it?

Thanks for the kind words. My mum is quite the gardener so thought the verse approporiate.

Unfortuneatly when I rang her for Mother's day she hadn't received it yet. What's going on with the post? It was sent Tuesday morning grr. Lucky for me she hadn't seen my blog yet and promised not to look until after the mail arrives today.

Olive blue - as too the dust... well what can I say.... it had been stored in the shed for the last few years...... ;)
