April in Review........

After the garlic planting the next most anticpated event is
The local annual agricultural show
Entries in the produce section were up and DS had a great day.
DD celebrated her birthday, in which she had a caramel cake, this one was to take to school.
Sweet corn with melted butter, yum (we beat the birds to it!)
Rosella picking (on going) our fingers are so sore from the little prickles, note the band aids!
But alas DS's seed bank is growing.....
April - a very wet month this year. Seems like it has rained nearly every afternoon.
We were flooded in over Easter.
The evenings are cooling down and a blanket is needed at night - it is now too cold for mozzies.
Experiencing a mice plague.
On a sad note - We lost two milking does to intestinal worms.
After drenching, the two remaining older does went blind.
This was/is heart renching and has left us scratching our heads and asking
"Why do we keep goats again?"

I'm sorry to hear about your goats. Intestinal parasites are such a problem in Australia with sheep and goats too I guess.

Glad other things have gone well in April though.

Thanks Tracy. I Have been speaking to another goat breeder and she said it is a real problem this year because of the wet weather.

PS I like what you have done with your ivy :)

Thanks. DS takes growing for the show very seriously. But the bonus is we get to eat them!

The wet weather has increased all sorts of pests and we've even still got the mozzies.
Congratulations to DS and a Big Happy Birthday to DD :o)

Thanks Narelle. It was suprising to see what veggies actually did and didn't grow considering our weather conditions. DS's planning is already under way for next years show.

DD is considering doing some baking ........

Congratulations on your wins!!!

Hi, we also ate our corn, but the wet weather this year did not do our crop any favours. Did rosellas last year, maybe next season will grow and make jam again.
